Famous for such teen movies as The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo’s Fire, Alley Sheedy was born on the 13th of June, 1962 in New York City. Named Alexandra Elizabeth Sheedy, Alley was born to John Sheedy, Jr. and Charlotte Baum who divorced when Alley was nine years old. She has two other siblings from these divorced parents, named Patrick and Megan.

Alley graduated in 1980 from Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School but she had been dancing with the American Ballet Theatre since she was six. She wanted to pursue dancing until she got more involved in acting. As young child growing up in New York, Alley had many talents and among them is writing. She wrote She Was Nice to Mice at the age of twelve. The book published by McGraw-Hill became an instant best seller.

Her first encounter with acting was in local stage productions. She then appeared in many made for movie tv-films by the year 1981. Then she appeared in three episodes of the then hit series Hill Street Blues. This was followed by her film debut starring with Sean Penn in Bad Boys in 1983. The 80s made her one of the most famous young actresses in Hollywood. She appeared in War Games, Maid to Order, and the hits Short Circuit, The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo’s Fire made her a big celebrity.
